Kinsey is a junior currently studying Editing, Writing, and Media as well as Political Science. Upon graduation, she’s planning to pursue her master’s in Political Communications where she hopes to work in the political sphere as a communications consultant. She says that she can really see herself flourishing doing communications or editorial work for political and legal groups as her undergraduate experience has really prepared her for this type of work.
Her first position in Gamma Phi Beta was Beta Mu’s correspondent for The Crescent, the sorority’s official magazine. This role allowed her to use her writing skills to share our chapter’s accomplishments, and helped her learn more about Gamma Phi Beta. Currently, Kinsey serves as our Ritual Chairwoman where plays an important role in educating our sisters and plans important services such as initiation.
Kinsey started working for the FSView and Florida Flambeau her freshman year where she wrote about events happening on campus and Tallahassee news. At the end of her freshman year, she was promoted to deputy news editor, a position that she had for the entirety of her sophomore year. This position allowed her to learn more about what it takes to edit and put a newspaper. Now, Kinsey serves as the news editor where she oversees the weekly production of the news section and serves as a mentor to the other writing staff. She says that having this experience with FSView has given her a unique perspective of the campus and the Tallahassee community. “When I see the paper displayed in the house or see a sister repost an article on her Instagram story, I feel very grateful to be part of a sisterhood that supports my work and celebrates my accomplishments.” says Kinsey. She adds that it is an incredible feeling knowing that these stories have such a big impact and that she has a role in putting that together.
We are so proud of you Kinsey and keep up the amazing work!
Queen Kinsey!
